BMW G650 Xcountry. Folks; I've been doing a spot of reading tonight after finding a couple of rather nice local-ish deals on BMW F650 Xcountries. We'd originally planned on getting a F700GS for my other half but they are awful expensive, she's new to riding and they're heavy compared to the single cylinder versions. So, a few things come to mind.
A BMW F650GS or Dakar steel lever, without a folding tip, like Johnnyboxer shows here: Either this one (or the next one (Funduro)) is part number 23417652942 like Colebatch said. A BMW 650 Funduro steel lever with a folding tip, like this 1998 one I got off of eBay, shown here installed after I bent it to my liking:

here's the email i just sent bmw:I would like to inform you that i have had a problem with my brand new bmw g650 xcountry 2009. I bought it in orlando in november 2008 but have it serviced at eurocycles in odessa florida closer to where i live. In May it started stalling when the engine was cold. Never when engine warm.
The G 650 X family has been with us since 2007, quietly making its way with three models served up for different levels of on and off road riding. For 2009, BMW Canada kept only the X Country (Pronounced Cross Country) variant.
Prior to 2007 this was the dilemma BMW faced, and its answer came to life in the 2007 G 650 X series of motorcycles, ridden and reviewed by former MOron, Pete Brissette. So, instead of expanding the lineup with one new bike, BMW added three: the G650 Xchallenge, G650 Xmoto and G650 Xcountry.
The F650GS's seat height is 30.7", the Challenge's is 36.6", and the Country's is 33". I first thought that the XChallenge and the XCountry would be very similar bikes but I actually found them to be very different. The Challenge is much more of a dirt bike, but the Country shouldn't have any problems when ridden carefully on rough, dirt roads.
The XCountry rear shock is a direct fit and will set it up for a 5'8" person a lot better. I did 75mm rear lowering for wife @ 5'3". Raised forks in triple clamps up ~1" till they almost hit bars, and put 40mm front lowering springs in to match rear. You can always do a hotrod welding tank on an XCo for extra fuel.
