4/5)Master Genie 5.36. 4/5) Dendroid Soldier 5.36. 6) Power Lich 5.06. 7) Zealot 4.64. 8) Pit Lord 4.38. 9) Magma Elemental 3.28. Mighty Gorgons ARE probably the best creatures, but I like Minos, Whip Lords and especially the T-Birds a lot (and could make a case for them), so I'm going to mull a bit about the vote.
Cove. Cove is a neutral alignment town with the captain and navigator hero classes. Cove armies are composed of pirates, smugglers, and thieves, as well as those with whom they have forged alliances. Cove represents Regna . Cove's native terrain is swamp . Pub - Horde building which increases crew mate and seaman growth by +4 per week. Roost
The halberdier is the upgraded version of the pikeman, the first-tier creature of the Castle faction in Heroes of Might and Magic III. It can be recruited from the upgraded guardhouse. Pikemen and Halberdiers are among the strongest basic foot soldiers available to any army. While somewhat slow, they have respectable combat ratings.OffBck The halberdier is a good improvement of the pikeman
In my Heroes 5 manual p.14 : "To split a stack, hold the shift key, click on the stack you wish to split, and drag it to the destination slot." also p.28 "Defend/Skip TurnYou can also make a stack wait for a while without defending by hitting the W key. The unit's turn will be postponed for half the usual cycle."
Honorable mentions: Cyclops: Tankier, but weaker swordmaster that can also use a ranged attack if need be. Hydra: Fantastic might based unit with life drain and good offense. Grim reaper: Can be absurdly good on a hero with defense on highest level, they also win every 1v1 in low numbers thanks to its ability.
Familiars are only useful if you are a magic hero and enemy magic hero casts spell expensive enough to fuel a decent curse/blessing/direct damage spell. Level 2: gogs aren't too amazing, not very worthy until upgraded, As for magogs use them to blast enemy shooters and their guards. Level 3: low growth makes hell hounds vulnerable, so upgrade
The good ones. 1. Heroes 3. Will likely be first for most. Heroes 3 is the best designed HoMM game. Nice graphics, which hold up to this day. Most content (factions, creatures, spells, heroes), for the most part fine mechanics. Only a couple of secondary skills are quite useless. The variety is unmatched.
Highest HP per week of all towns, and those units are cheap individually. Higher Lv 4 & 5 unit growth. Treasury. Kyrre the logistics specialist. Lots of magic resistance specials for units. Very strong combo of level 1-2-3 units (centaurs captains, battle dwarves, and grand elves dominate the other factions' early units). No weak points.
Tower: Flexible mix of might and magic play style but only fully effective on rich maps. Titans + Genie combo, Solmyr go BZZZT! Conflux: You either snowball or weep about how mediocre over half your units are; also, summon elemental spam to bolster your army is so meh. Grindan and Luna +++. Inferno: Way too underpowered, really needs a buff.
Recruit a hero (gold/resource producing speciality is best for scout heroes to make them even more useful to your kingdom), take all troops off him and give him 3 of your fastest units (speed 11 or higher is the best). Put each unit in a different slot: ex. Slot1 - Dragonfly, Slot2 - Dragonfly, Slot3 - Dragonfly.
Lots 20-49. Horde 50-99. Throng 100-249. Swarm 250-499. Zounds 500-999. Legion 1000+. Info taken from here. IMHO this is THE site for anything regarding HoMM and you may find lots of useful information there. Post edited December 19, 2010 by Thiev.
by Deadguy118 ยป Apr 4 2009, 16:58. The best town in terms of raw firepower is Conflux (because they neglected to balance it) followed by Castle. Both have high costs, so it would be slightly harder to build them up, but Tower is the only town that would be severely crippled by having a small map or a high difficulty.
Speed: 5. Cost: 165. Growth: 7. One of the two ranged units in Stronghold, Orc, is a weak unit - although it is able to deal some serious damage, it has the lowest defense rating from all 3rd level units, which together with a rather low health pool makes them extremely vulnerable to attacks. A very low speed does not help either, as this unit
It is unlikely it will receive any further patches, and as for the missing expansions Ubisoft stated upfront at the announcement of HD Edition before its release that they would not be released as their source code was lost (HD Edition is based on the Linux port of Restoration of Erathia which was not lost).
Master Gremlins as F. They are probably the best T1 unit. You have marksmen, lizard warriors, and orcs sharing C tier. Lizards and marksmen are the backbone of their respective factions for the first 3 or 4 weeks. Orcs are not. Seadogs are good, but they are so prohibitively expensive and squishy. They are ranked way too high.
